Will anyone be interested in the musings and discoveries of a senior lesbian who’s been "in the life" since the late 60's - from secret, furtive meetings to marriage to Leah in 2013?
An answer to this question might be found in a recent column in The New York Times. There, David Brooks quoted the philosopher Alasdair MacIntyre as having once observed, "you can’t know what to do unless you know what story you are a part of."
I invite you to join me in this process of discovering what story both you and I “are a part of.”
While considering how to approach this process of discovery, I finished a bowl of Orville Redenbacher's Kettle Corn that I had watched pop like a cat reconnoitering a fish tank. And, I was amused by the gong sound of the popcorn bowl when my ring finger tapped its side. That was the extent of my meandering the day I tried to rationalize my decision to go outside my comfort zone of textbook writing and mentoring and venture into a world of sharing more personal, more intimate, more existential ideas and experiences.
This is a challenging juncture for me. I'm quite comfortable and confident teaching others about writing-- theirs and that of other writers.. Good lord, for years I've coached others about how to recognize what works and what doesn't and how to apply that skill to their own presentations. But, I can't help but ask: Will anyone be interested in following my explorations of the quiddity of compelling people, places, and things? (Yes, I do use the Oxford comma. I think it makes for a clearer list.)
I believe many will. And, together, we will discover and navigate our own stories via “Murf’s” meandering, musing, and discovery.

I invite you to join me at least twice a month, if not more often. I'll post about an individual, group, idea, publication, etc. that I think will resonate with you and your involvement with your world. The post may be a one-off newsy piece; it may be an essay, short story, poem, novel, play, or a film accompanied with a few of my comments. It also may be an original serialized novel, or a short story, etc. that has caught my interest.
Whatever text, the goal will be to investigate its quiddity (its essence). I invite you to join me.
